My Therapeutic Approach and Specializations

I believe in a soft yet direct style that encourages self-discovery and personal development. By enhancing self-awareness and fostering healing, I aim to make your therapeutic journey a meaningful path toward resilience and growth. With over 23 years of experience, I specialize in:

Couples Therapy: Teaching open communication skills, resolving conflicts, and enhancing love and intimacy.
Child and Adolescent Therapy: Utilizing play therapy to address trauma, teach coping skills, and overcome oppositional behaviors.

My early career included extensive work with County Mental Health and a local Foster Care Agency, where I served individuals, couples, and families. I am passionate about supporting you on your journey.

Services Offered

I provide both in-person and telehealth counseling services in Orcutt and Santa Maria, California serving individuals, couples, and families throughout Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties.

Community Commitment

Having lived in Orcutt for over a decade, I care deeply about our Central Coast community. I actively volunteer and support local organizations, ensuring that my practice remains rooted in community values. Your privacy and confidentiality are my top priorities, and I adhere to the highest ethical standards in my practice.

Maintain scope of practice and scope of competence and not continue to see clients for therapists financial benefit. Provide referrals as needed to respected professionals in the community who abide by the code of ethics and the law.

Pledge to the professions ethical decision making, integrity, and adhere to professional code of ethics and commit to ongoing professional development and self-reflection. Uphold client autonomy, maintaining confidentiality, and navigating complex issues such as dual relationships and conflicts of interests.

Abide by Foundational ethical principles and integrity set by the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the California Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT), practice by ethical codes on core values that foster integrity. These include:

  • Autonomy: Respecting a client's right to make their own choices.

  • Beneficence: Actively promoting the well-being and growth of clients.

  • Nonmaleficence: Avoiding actions that could cause harm.

  • Justice: Ensuring fair and equitable treatment for all clients.

  • Fidelity: Honoring professional commitments and maintaining trust.

  • Veracity: Being honest and transparent in all professional interactions.

Reasons why seeing two therapists at once is generally discouraged:

  • Conflicting or Diluted Treatment Plans: Different therapists may offer contradictory advice or approaches, making it hard for the client to know which path to follow and potentially diluting the effectiveness of both treatments.

  • Confusion for the Client: Divergent therapy methods and treatment goals can leave the client feeling confused and unsure of which therapist's perspective is "right".

  • Weakened Therapeutic Relationships: Seeing two therapists can weaken the crucial attachment and trust with each individual, as neither will have the full picture of the client's history and therapeutic journey.

  • Inefficiency and Wasted Resources: Dealing with conflicting advice and repeatedly sharing the same information can slow progress and waste financial and personal resources.

  • Avoidance: It can sometimes be a way to avoid difficult topics with one therapist, hoping a different one will offer a fresh start, but this can lead to the same avoidance patterns repeating.
